Waitakere United

Waitakere United is a football club based in Waitakere, New Zealand. It was founded in 2004 and has since played in New Zealand's highest football league New Zealand Football Championship. The home stadium for the Games of the Season 2007/ 08 is the Fred Taylor Park.

History

The club was founded in 2004 as a special franchise. It was merged from 12 clubs, which are located in the area of Mount Albert to the Kaipara District.

2004/ 05 and 2006/ 07 we finished second in the domestic league. Waitakere United won the OFC Champions League 2007 and therefore took part in qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup 2007. The club was subsequently invited to the tournament, as the representative of Vanuatu had canceled the participation before the start of the tournament.

In the subsequent qualification for the FIFA Club World Cup, but you already retired in the first round by a 1-3 against Sepahan Isfahan.

In the seasons 2007/ 08, 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12 Waitakere won the New Zealand Cup.
