Walddorfhäslach is a municipality in Baden- Württemberg, located about eleven miles north of the county town of Reutlingen. It belongs to the metropolitan region of Stuttgart.

Geographical Location

Walddorfhäslach located on the edge of the Natural Park Schonbuch. The municipality covers an altitude of 336 m above sea level. NN in Schaichtal to 501 m above sea level. NN on the forest villages plate.

Community structure

The municipality comprises the eponymous villages forest village and Häslach. Forest village (about 3100 inhabitants; 1,208 hectares) Häslach (about 1,600 inhabitants; 236 acres ) was first in 1204, for the first time mentioned in 1310.

In the territory of the former municipality Häslach is the deserted village Kächelwang. The site has been mentioned around 1120 as Kechelwanck and went from before 1330. In the territory of the former community forest village lie the Outbound 1531 mentioned as Diettenhart village Dieterich hard and also Outbound homestead Geren.

History

The community Walddorfhäslach was taken on April 1, 1972 through the merger of the formerly independent communities of forest village and Häslach which at that time belonged to the district of Tübingen. As part of the district reform Walddorfhäslach was the district of Reutlingen affiliated with 1973.

The district forest village was the first time a document of Pope Innocent III. mentioned as Walt village. Created Forest village well as settlement in the 7th or 8th century, Note this is the ending- dorf in place names. Through the discovery of three dead trees in 1866 on the west side of the church, this assumption gained probability.

The name Rabbit Laughing is dated to 1310. This year, the first mention is in the book " The Kingdom of Württemberg. A description by circles, upper offices and communities, " Stuttgart 1904-1907 ( Volume II, page 582 ) called. The authors of that work have, however, failed to specify the actual nomination document as a source. The actual document which was first reported by Hase Lach, is not yet known. Today, it is generally believed that the name of locality is due to an earlier job title, therefore Häslach was the "settlement by a stream on hazel bushes ". The composition is derived from the word parts Häsl for hazel ( hazel ) and Ah, an Old High German word for brook, which is also present in other cities names, such as Bacharach, Laufach.

Both origin communities belonged to the upper office Tübingen.

Religions

Since the introduction of the Reformation in Württemberg in 1534 is the predominant denomination in two districts of Protestantism. Walddorfhäslach has two Protestant churches and pastors and a half. Today there is again a Catholic community center as well as a New Apostolic Church.

The council has 14 members in Walddorfhäslach since the last election. The turnout at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 was 60.06 %, and resulted in the following distribution of seats:

The council consists of the elected volunteer councils and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the local council.

The mayor is elected for a term of 8 years.

Coat of arms

Official Blazon: In gold with a red shield main, is three golden hazelnuts, an obliquely leaping black marten. The coat of arms is composed of elements of the former municipality coat of arms, the raccoon comes from the forest villages coat of arms, the hazelnuts from the Häslacher.

The sister city of Walddorfhäslach is the district forest village of the municipality Kottmar in Upper Lusatia in Saxony.

Culture and sights

Structures

Forest village has several historical buildings, such as the Old Palace. As part of the 800th celebration of a historical trail through forest village has been created, which leads past the historic buildings.

The site of Häslach characterize the Protestant church and the distinctive water tower from the year 1967. It has an observation deck that is not publicly available, however.

Parks

The adjacent nature park beautiful book serves as a recreation area for the southern region of Stuttgart.

From the two districts can be seen in less than an hour hiking in the vast nature reserve Schaichtal, for a particularly attractive part of the beautiful book. Many grills and several wells provide the opportunity for a rest. Some Häslacher swear by the healing properties of the " wells of salvation " water, which officially is, however, not drinking water.

Walddorfhäslach has with the several hundred years old Sulzeiche on Schönbuchrand in forest village a special natural monument.

Traffic

The municipality is located on State Road 27 ( Blankenburg (Harz ) Lottstetten ). Federal highway 464 connects the municipality with Böblingen and Sindelfingen.

There is a bus to Reutlingen (line 3 ) within the Naldo ( Honeycomb 220) as well as bus connections to Bernhausen or Degerloch ( line 75) and Nürtingen ( line 188 ) within the VVS. From 5 October 2009, the bus number 300 runs during the peak time of the forest village after Dettenhausen, where connection is made to the Schönbuchbahn to Böblingen.

Education

Walddorfhäslach has a primary school, which Römerwegschule Häslach, as well as a community school, the Gustav -Werner - Forest village school, which runs from 1st to 10th grade. In the school year 2012/13 the Gustav -Werner - school was one of the starters schools in Baden- Württemberg, the community school were.
