Walt Minnick

Walter Clifford " Walt " Minnick ( born September 20, 1942 in Walla Walla, Washington) is an American politician. From 3 January 2009 to January 3, 2011, he was the first electoral district of the state of Idaho in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Walt Minnick grew up on a wheat farm and attended until 1964, the Whitman College in Walla Walla. Then he studied until 1969 at Harvard University, among others, Jura. From 1970 to 1972 he was a soldier in the U.S. Army. He then worked as a lawyer. Then he worked on the staff of President Richard Nixon, from which he resigned in protest of the Watergate affair. There followed a business career that has led him to the board of several companies. He was, among others, CEO of TJ International.

After his political activities for Richard Nixon, he has long been politically neutral and then joined the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1996 Minnick ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. He received 39.91 % of votes. The election winner Larry Craig of the Republican Party came to 57.02 %. In the congressional elections of 2008, Walter Minnick with 50.61 % of the vote against the incumbent Bill Sali ( 49.39 %) was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Minnick took his seat on 3 January 2009. He was a member of the agricultural and the Finance Committee.
