Mike Simpson

Michael Keith "Mike" Simpson ( born September 8, 1950 in Burley, Idaho) is an American politician. Since 1999, he represents the second electoral district of the state of Idaho in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Mike Simpson attended until 1968, the Blackfoot High School. Then he studied until 1972 at Utah State University. There he studied at Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, where he studied until 1978 dentistry. He then worked as a dentist.

Political career

Mike Simpson was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1984 and 1998 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Idaho; Since 1993 he was president of the house. 1998 Simpson was elected for the second electoral district of Idaho in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he took over from the Senate exchanged Mike Crapo on 3 January 1999. This mandate does he have after several re- elections until today. In his last election so far in 2008 it reached 71 % of the vote against Debbie Holmes of the Democratic Party.

In Congress Simpson is a member of the permit and the Budget Committee. As a dentist, he also represents the interests of the American Dental Association in Congress. He is regarded as conservative. Nevertheless, he has voted for some domestic issues even against the official party doctrine. Mike Simpson is married to Kathy Simpson and private lives in Idaho Falls.
