John C. Sanborn

John Carfield Sanborn ( born October 25, 1887 in Chenoa, McLean County, Illinois, † May 16, 1968 in Boise, Idaho ) was an American politician. Between 1947 and 1951 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Idaho in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

John Sanborn attended the public schools of his home and then to 1908 Oberlin College in Ohio. Then he studied until 1912 at the Faculty of Law, Columbia University in New York City law. After his studies he worked in agriculture.

Political career

Sanborn was a member of the Republican Party. From 1921 to 1929 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Idaho and between 1939-1941 he was a member of the State Senate. In the congressional elections of 1946, he was elected in the second district of the State of Idaho in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he replaced Henry Dworshak on 3 January 1947. After a re-election in 1948, John Sanborn could implement his mandate in Congress until January 3, 1951. In 1950, he did not run for this office; Instead, he applied this year unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate. In 1956 there was a further unsuccessful candidacy for the Board.

After his political activity Sanborn was again engaged in farming and became president of the Hagerman Farms Inc. He was also a board member of the Farm Bureau Federation in Idaho. John Sanborn died in 1968 and was buried in Hagerman.
