Walter Mirisch
Walter M. Mirisch ( born November 8, 1921 in New York City, New York) is an American film producer.
Life
Walter Mirisch is one of the most successful American film producer. He has received numerous awards for its productions, and produced his first film in 1947. Till the 1950s, he produced especially B-movies. His breakthrough as a producer, he had in 1960 with the noble - Western The Magnificent Seven. In 1962 he received his first Oscar for the production of West Side Story. His company Mirisch Corporation was one of the most successful independent film companies of the United States, the films like Some Like it Hot and The Sound of Music produced. The production company had a distribution deal with United Artists.
His son Lawrence Mirisch is the founder of Mirisch Agency, which seeks to filmmakers behind the camera. Especially Cutter be represented by the agency.
