Wayne Hynes

Wayne Hynes ( born May 26, 1969 in Calgary, Alberta ) is a former Canadian- German ice hockey player. As a player, Hynes was active in the DEL for the Schwenningen Wild Wings, the Munich Barons, the Adler Mannheim and Hamburg Freezers and for the Hannover Scorpions.

Playing career

The 1.82 m wide center began his career with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League, after two years on the team from the University of Calgary in the play mode of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport of the links Sagittarius moved finally to Grefrather EC in the 2nd Bundesliga.

After the descent of the Grefrather in the league and another year at TuS Geretsried Hynes signed a contract with the Schwenningen Wild Wings, for which he played for five years in the DEL newly established. After the Canadians spent the play-offs of the 1998/99 season in the Swiss second division SC Langnau, he moved to the 1999/00 season back in the DEL with the Munich Barons, with whom he won the German Cup in the same year. After three years at the Adler Mannheim, which also included the re- winning the championship in 2001, Hynes moved to league rivals Hamburg Freezers, DEL his last station was the Hannover Scorpions in the season 2004/05.

In summer 2005, the striker went again to the now relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga Schwenningen ERC, his playing career ended in 2007 at the Hynes second division runners- Kassel Huskies.

Internationally

For the German national ice hockey team, Canadian-born contested the World Championships in 2001 and 2002, he also stood for the German team at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City on the ice.

Coaching career

His coaching career began in the 2007/ 08 season with the polar bears Regensburg. On 8 January 2008, the polar bear Regensburg announced that Wayne Hynes was released from the performance of its contractual obligations from now as a coach. From November 2008, he coached the Eispiraten Crimmitschau before he had not extended his contract after the 2009/10 season for personal reasons. Wayne Hynes is now working as a full-time youth coach at Schwenningen ERC and coaches the local Bundesliga team students.
