Werner Günthör

Werner Günthör ( born June 1, 1961 in Uttwil ) is a former Swiss track and field athlete.

Life

Günthör was the best ball piercing his country in the history of athletics. He was three times world champion ( 1987, 1991 and 1993) and one time European champion (1986). At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 he won the bronze medal.

The 2.00 m wide model athlete tried also as a bobsledder in the team of Ekkehard setter. The trained plumber later graduated from sports studies and now works 50% of the Federal Office of Sport in Magglingen in training. In the remaining time he is engaged as self-employed in projects, holds seminars and advises athletes during training or in the career planning. He is married and lives in Erlach.

Günthör was according to statements made by his physician Bernhard Segesser for rehabilitation after an injury with Stromba ( Stanozolol) treated, which is run as a prohibited substance on the Prohibited List.
