Westend (Band)

Westend was an Austrian pop band from the 1980s. It consisted of the singers Gary Lux, Peter Vieweger, Bernhard Rabitsch and Hans Christian Wagner and dancer Patricia Tandien.

Achievements

The group was founded in 1983 for participation in the Austrian preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest. By composed by Peter Vieweger and texted Heli Deinboek and Heinz Nessizius song Hurricane they could be extremely tight prevail over the second-placed Waterloo. At the competition, which was held in Munich in 1983, the band was less successful, reaching 53 points in ninth place among 20 participants.

The song was - released shortly after the competition as a single and climbed up to 8th place of the Austrian singles chart - with the English version as a B-side. Despite the commercial success, the group disbanded shortly thereafter, further studio recordings have not occurred.
