William Cairns

William Wellington Cairns, KCMG (* 1828July 9, 1888 in London) was a British civil servant from Ireland. He has held several offices in the colonial administration of the British Empire before it was 1875 Governor of Queensland on 23 January. He held that office for two years and then was appointed acting governor of South Australia. He returned to England and died in London on July 9, 1888.

The town of Cairns in Queensland was named after him.
