Geographical location

Wüstenrot is located in Mainhardter forest in the southeast of the district of Heilbronn in the natural area Swabian- Franconian Forest. History

Near the church today is the Upper Germanic Limes, but the area was not inhabited in Roman times. The first recorded mention of the village in the municipality is 779, the donation of property in Stangenbach to the monastery of Fulda. Wüstenrot was only first mentioned in 1325.
