Zdiby

Zdiby ( German Zdib ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers north of the center of Prague at the city limits and is part of the Okres Praha- východ.

Geography

Zdiby is located on the right side of the Vltava River in the Czech table in the source basin of the Přemyšlenský creek. East of the highway D 8 / E 55 runs from Lovosice to Prague, the road leads from the 608 at exit 1 " Zdiby " by the municipality in the district of Prague Dolni Chabry. To the west lies the Slavonic settlement Pravý Hradec.

Neighboring towns are Zdibsko and Sedlec in the north, Bořanovice in the northeast, Březiněves in the east, in the southeast Ďáblice, Dolni Chabry in the south, and Čimice Brnky the southwest, Přemyšlení, Veltěž, Klecánky and Roztoky in the west and Klecany in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the monastery of St.. Katharina related to the New Town village was in 1266. During the Hussite Wars Zdiby arrived from 1420 to worldly owners. Among them were from the 17th century, the Count Radetzky of Radetz who had also Přemyšlení. Zdiby was on the old post road that led from Prague to the north.

After the abolition of patrimonial Zdiby formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Karlin. 1875 acquired the brewing family Martin and Marie Stejskal from Smíchov the castle including the brewery, brickworks and the lands for 175,000 guilders. 1890 adopted the new Castle Brewery on production. As of 1928, the village belonged to the district Praha- venkov. By 1946, the community came to Okres Praha -sever and since 1961 it belongs to the Okres Praha- východ. 1948 " Heritage Community Josef Stejskal, Zdiby " was expropriated and nationalized their possession.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Zdiby Brnky ( Bernek ) Přemyšlení ( Premischl ) Veltěž (World Esch) and Zdiby ( Zdib ).

Attractions

  • Zdiby Castle, built in the late 18th century in place of the old parties. The castle was built after 1948 as the seat of a state farm, which was later connected to the state farm Ďáblice and after the reform of state-owned farms on the estate Odolena Voda. During the communist rule originating from the Renaissance period inventory including the painting was destroyed. Later, it served as an apprentice boarding school and then later went on to the music fund the reconstruction measures carried out. At the time of the Velvet Revolution it was intended for demolition. 1992 went in restitution to the community of heirs Stejskal, which began with the renovation. 1994, the work was stopped due to financial problems and the backed up makeshift castle.
