Brackel

Brackelsberg [ bʁa kɛl ː ] is a municipality in the district of Harburg, in Lower Saxony ( Germany ). It lies between Hanstedt and Hittfeld with its own exit the motorway 7 Brackelsberg is part of the integrated municipality Hanstedt.

The municipality belongs to the district Thieshope.

History

The first mention in writing Brackelsberg on February 6, 1300 in deed book of the monastery of St. Michael at Lüneburg. Traces of human habitation in the district can be found but in finds from prehistoric times already, from the early Stone Age through the Bronze Age to the Iron Age. They show that the main settlements were not at its present location rather than downward Quarrendorf and Toppenstedt. An urn find from the " Jastorf - time " states that as early as 550-400 people were buried in Brackelsberg BC.

On 1 July 1972, the municipality Thieshope was incorporated.

Origin of the name

Old names of the place are: 1307 villa Brackell, 1312 in villa Brakele, 1450 Brakell. The basic word Old Saxon loh, lah "bush, coppice ". the destination word is Old Saxon " brak, braka " Middle Low German "brake - cracked wood, branch "

Coat of arms

Blazon: On a red background a silver flat Brake. The Brackeler village coat of arms depicts a Brake ( a cutter ), as is suspected, the name " Brackelsberg " comes from the fact that in the past a large Brake stood in Brackelsberg to which came the surrounding farmers. However, this is not certain.

Traffic

Brackelsberg is in the range of the Hamburg Transport Association. The bus lines 4407 and 4408 of the CCG Stade connect the place with both just 15 km from the railway stations Buchholz ( Nordheide) ( on the railway line Hamburg- Bremen) and Winsen ( Luhe ) ( on the railway line Hamburg- Hannover).

Previously had Brackelsberg its own railway station on the now disused railway line Buchholz -Lüneburg.
