Geography
Geographical Location
Toppenstedt is located about 40 kilometers south of Hamburg on the A7 at the northern edge of the Lüneburg Heath and Garlstorfer in the conservation area forest. The community is dominated by agriculture. In the vicinity Tangendorf, Wulfsen, Garstedt and Garlstorf lie.

The municipality comprises the towns of Toppenstedt and Tangendorf.
History
The name is derived from the coat of arms Toppenstedt tree of " Toppe", which is synonymous with oak. As the region has been established in the Toppenstedt, was littered with many small oak forests, the village was given this name.
