Province of Pescara

The Pescara (Italian Provincia di Pescara) province is a province of the Abruzzo region.

It has 315 725 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in 46 municipalities covering an area of 1,224 km ². Capital of the province of Pescara.

In the region there are two national parks Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga and Majella, where many animals such as bears, wolves, chamois and wild cats.

Nature Reserves

  • The " Riserva naturale Pineta di Santa Filomena " is a 20 hectare nature reserve near the cities of Pescara and Monte Silvano. In this under conservation area since 1977, many are found in Mediterranean regions typical plant species because the large formed by erosions bottom gusset allow any other vegetation.
  • The " Riserva Naturale Valle dell'Orfento " is a 2606 hectare nature reserve near the rivers Orta and Orfento. In this under conservation area since 1971, many plants and trees such as pine, beech and oak trees can be found.
  • The " Riserva naturale Lama Bianca di Eufemia a Maiella " is a 1407 hectare nature reserve near the river Orta and the Majella Mountains. In this under conservation area since 1987, many animals such as wolves, Alpenstein chickens and bears can be found.
  • The " Riserva naturale controllata Lago di Penne " is a 150 -hectare nature reserve near the town of Penne. In this under conservation area since 1987, many plants ( Thimian, marjoram and mint ) and animals such as blackbirds, egrets, turtles and storks can be found.
