Roman Catholic Diocese of Bereina

The diocese Bereina (Latin: Dioecesis Bereinitana ) is a location in Papua New Guinea Roman Catholic diocese based in Bereina. It includes the districts Kairuku - Hiri and Goilala in the province of Central Province.

History

Pope John XXIII. founded with the Apostolic Constitution by Qui electionem on 16 July 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate of Yule from Iceland annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Port Moresby.

With the bull Laeta incrementa it was collected on 15 November 1966 bishopric, which was the Archdiocese of Port Moresby assumed as suffragan. On January 16, 1971, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the diocese Kerema.
