Roman Catholic Diocese of Mendi

The Diocese of Mendi (Latin: Dioecesis Mendiensis ) is a location in Papua New Guinea Roman Catholic diocese based in Mendi. It includes the province of Southern Highlands Province.

History

Pope John XXIII. founded with the Apostolic Constitution EIUS Successores on 13 November 1958, the Apostolic Prefecture of Mendi annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Port Moresby. She was raised on 6 July 1965 with the Apostolic Constitution Regnum Christi Apostolic Vicariate.

With the bull Laeta incrementa it was collected on 15 November 1966 bishopric, which was the Archdiocese of Madang assumed as suffragan. On January 16, 1971, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the diocese Kerema.
