13th Berlin International Film Festival
The International Film Festival Berlin 1963 took place until July 2, 1963 by June 21.
In response to the Berlin Wall was built from 1961 showed the festival via a so-called TV - bridge competition movies on TV for the eastern sector of the city. Against the Wall East Berlin had been able to look at a movie theater in the Wedding district of the competition films in Special Screenings. The TV - bridge should help.

International Jury
The British director Wendy Toye was Jury President this year. She stood in front of the following judges: Fernando Ayala (Argentina ), Guglielmo Biraghi (Italy ), Baldev Raj Chopra (India ), Günther Angel ( Germany ), Karl Malden (USA ), Jean -Pierre Melville (France) and Henri Sokal ( Germany ).

- Silver Bears: Nikos Koundouros ( Best Director )
- Bibi Andersson in sleeping compartment ( Best Actress )
- Sidney Poitier in Lilies of the Field ( Best Actor )
- The caretaker (special price)
