1912 PCHA season

The season 1912 was the first regular season of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association ( PCHA ). Masters were the New Westminster Royals.

Mode

In the regular season, the three teams completed each 15 to 16 games. The winner after the regular season was champion. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw one point and at a defeat.

Course of the season

The season was opened on January 2, 1912 with a home game of the Victoria Aristocrats against the New Westminster Royals. 2,500 spectators, the Royals won the first game of league history with 8:3. Royals player Ran McDonald scored the first goal of the league history and has been involved with a total of four goals at crucial victory of his team. Due to delays in the construction of their arena, the Royals had to deliver their home games in the arena of the Vancouver Millionaires. The league title, the New Westminster Royals were able to secure on March 19 with a 7-5 victory over the Vancouver Millionaires, after both teams until the penultimate day were still on par. Newsy Lalonde was top scorer of the Millionaires, who scored 27 times in 15 games and then moved to the Canadiens de Montréal from the National Hockey Association.
