1912–13 PCHA season

The season 1912/13, was the second regular season of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association ( PCHA ). Masters were the Victoria Aristocrats.

Mode

In the regular season, the three teams completed each between 15 and 16 games. The winner after the regular season was champion. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw one point and at a defeat.

Course of the season

Prior to the season the teams in the PCHA get some spectacular signings. From the Quebec Bulldogs of the National Hockey Association three players were conscripted. These were Jack McDonald ( Vancouver ), Goldie Prodger (Victoria) and Eddie Oatman (New Westminster). Conversely returned Harry Hyland and Newsy Lalonde back to their NHA teams, the Montreal Wanderers and Canadiens de Montréal. Since the construction of the arena in New Westminster still delayed, it was decided to, as in the previous year in the arena of the Vancouver Millionaires hold their own home games. In addition, the Royals and the Millionaires denied their last two season games on 17 and 18 March 1913 in Calgary, Alberta and Regina, Saskatchewan, to gauge the interest in the league in other regions. Victoria was able to secure early with a 1-0 victory over New Westminster the championship already on 7 March. Another peculiarity was that the league on February 15 allowed the teams compete with six players per team for the first time by omitting the rovers, which no longer existed in the competition league NHA. As this is not well received by the fans, we returned to the Seven Players Rule. The Australo -Canadian Tommy Dunderdale was with 29 points, including 24 goals, top scorer of the PCHA.
