1916–17 PCHA season
The season 1916/17 was the sixth regular season of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association ( PCHA ). Masters were the Seattle Metropolitans.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Victoria Aristocrats were to Spokane, Washington, relocated and changed their name to Spokane Canaries.
Mode
In the regular season, the four teams each completed 23 to 24 games. The winner after the regular season was champion. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw one point and a defeat.
Course of the season
At the start of the season was the second franchise relocation of the PCHA history. Since the Victoria Cougars had attracted finished last only a few spectators, the team has been to Spokane, Washington, relocated and renamed Spokane Canaries. This Vancouver remained the only Canadian team against three U.S. teams. However, the resettlement of the Aristocrats to Spokane had neither dynamic nor with regard to audience a special effect, so that the Comries after the season also einstellten game operation, after they had previously waived the last season game against Vancouver.

Stanley Cup Challenge
As PCHA champion Seattle Metropolitans who met for the Stanley Cup to the Canadiens de Montréal from the National Hockey Association, which were not allowed to use their player Reg Noble, since the latter had been running for too many teams during the season. With 3:1 wins in the best- of-five series, the Metropolitans won the first American team ever Stanley Cup.
