1958 1000 km Buenos Aires

The fifth 1000km race of Buenos Aires took place on January 26, 1958 held at the Autódromo Municipal Avenida Paz and was the first championship round of the World Sportscar Championship this year.

The race

The World Sportscar Championship began in 1958 on the same continent on which the World Sportscar Championship in 1957 had ended; South America. The last race of 1957, the 1000 - km race from Caracas ended with a victory for the Scuderia Ferrari and their drivers Peter Collins and Phil Hill, who remained victorious even in the first race in 1958 in Buenos Aires.

In training, the Scuderia Centro Sud Maserati reported by 300S of Stirling Moss and Jean Behra had an engine failure.
