1979 ICC Trophy
The ICC Trophy 1979 was the qualifying tournament of the non-test nations for the Cricket World Cup 1979. The tournament was held between 22 May and 21 June 1979 in England. Winner was Sri Lanka, located in the final against Canada was able to prevail with 5 runs. Both finalists qualified for the World Cup.

Format
The 15 teams were divided into three groups of five teams. Their group winners and the best runners-up qualified for the semifinals. Their winners qualified for the finals, the participants qualified for the World Cup.
