2001 ICC Trophy

The ICC Trophy 2001 was the qualifying tournament of the non-test nations for the Cricket World Cup 2003. The tournament was held between June 25 and July 17, 2001 in Canada. Winners were the Netherlands, in the final against Namibia was able to prevail with 2 wickets. Furthermore, hosts Canada qualified for the World Cup.

Participant

The tournament total of 24 Associate and Affiliate members of the ICC have participated. Here 12 teams in the Division 1 and Division 2 of the 12 have been assigned. The Division 1 were assigned to the following teams:

Italy and West Africa attracted just before the tournament back their participation.

Format

In the preliminary round, the teams were divided according to their performance in two divisions. In both divisions, the teams were then divided into two groups of six teams. The three group winners of the two groups of Division 1 qualified directly for the next round. The Fourth group each contributed to one of the group leaders of Division 2, a playoff game, the winners also qualified for the next round. If this team from the division win two, it takes over the points of the losing team from Division 1 The next round was discharged as Super League, in which each team has competed against which they had not played in the preliminary round. The two group winners qualify for the finals, the group third and fourth qualified for the third-place match. The two finalists and the winner of the game for 3rd place qualify for the World Cup.
