2006 Men's Hockey World Cup
The 11th Field Hockey Men's World Championship was held from 6 to 17 September 2006 at the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Monchengladbach. The Warsteiner Hockey Park was the only venue for the tournament. The official name of the tournament was BDO Hockey World Cup Men 2006. There were twelve teams initially into two groups and then in placing matches against each other. A total of 42 matches have been completed.

Venue
The Warsteiner Hockey Park has a main field with artificial turf and a capacity of 12,000 spectators. Furthermore, there is an adjacent location, also with artificial turf that offers about 850 spectators.
Qualification
They were eligible to the five reigning continental champions.

The remaining five starters places were offered by the qualifying tournament BDO Hockey World Cup Qualifier, which until April 23, 2006 took place from 12th in Changzhou. In this case, New Zealand, South Korea, England, Pakistan and Japan qualified for the tournament.

Tickets

Budget
For the implementation of the World Cup about 2 million euros were available. Of this, 400,000 euros from the public sector and 600,000 euros from sponsors. The remaining million should be realized from the sale of tickets. These were calculated with a total attendance of 80,000, but it has been surpassed with a total of approximately 100,000 spectators.
