2007–08 Kazakhstan Hockey Championship

The 2007/08 season was the 16th season of the Kazakh hockey professional league. The first round started with seven teams. In the final round were added three more who were actually resident in the leagues of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. The title of the Kazakh champion secured Barys Astana. The club from the capital won its eighth year, his first national title at all. In parallel, the Kazakh Hockey Cup was held for the sixth time overall, won the Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk.

Mode

In the preliminary round played seven teams - including the secondary representations of Barys Astana, Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk and the HK Kasachmys Satpajew - the three free places for the final round. The teams played in the first round a quadruple round so that each team came up with the number of 24 games. The three team with the most points qualified for the final round for the championship.

The three qualifiers from the preliminary round met in the final round on the three Wysschaja league participants Barys Astana, Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk and the HK Kasachmys Satpajew. The three teams that had spent the season in the leagues of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, had been set for the final round in advance.

For a victory in the regular time of 60 minutes, a team received three points, the losing opponent went away empty-handed. Event of a tie, it was the first time ever in the extension. If there was no goal and it remained in the draw, each team got a point. When struck, the winner received two points, the loser had to make do with one.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, the Irtysh Pavlodar HK, Gornjak Rudny and HK Saryarka Karaganda translated by sovereign. Satpajew and Rudny even both remained unblemished, met with their ten or six matches played but not directly to each other. The two reserve teams of the big clubs from Ust- Kamenogorsk and Astana remained chance and missed the final round clear as Jenbek Almaty.

The HK Kasachmys Satpajew decided after the twelfth Gameday to withdraw his second team from the championship. The new club management saw no value in it, for training purposes, a reserve team to fund, most of which consisted of Russian players. The remaining matches of the club counted each with three points and 0-0 goals for the opponent.

Final round

In the final round, which was held between the 1st and 7th of May in Öskemen, the future KHL Barys Astana participants could celebrate his first national title at all. So far, only three runner-up had been around the turn of the millennium to book. Astana won all five games; of which the to eventual runner-up Surprise Gornjak Rudny in extra time. The record champions Kaszink - Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk had to satisfy with the third.
