Background
After the Monaco Grand Prix Mark Webber led the drivers' championship tied on before Sebastian Vettel and three points ahead of Fernando Alonso. Red Bull -Renault resulted in the constructors' championship with 20 points ahead of Ferrari with 27 points ahead of McLaren - Mercedes.
Vettel denied at the Grand Prix of Turkey 's 50th Grand Prix.
With Felipe Massa ( three times) and Jenson Button (once) were two former winners of this Grand Prix.
The Scuderia Ferrari celebrated its 800th anniversary race in a total of 827 Grand Prix.
Training
In the first free practice McLaren - Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton scored with almost one second ahead of the fastest lap ahead of his teammate Button. Third was Michael Schumacher. Qualifying

At the start to the Turkish Grand Prix Webber kept the lead position. Both McLaren drivers lost a position.
