2011–12 UCI Africa Tour
The UCI Africa Tour is introduced for the 2005 season from the International Cycling Union UCI African road cycling calendar below the UCI ProTour ( since 2011: UCI World Tour ) and is one of the UCI Continental Circuits. The seventh season begins on October 1, 2011 and ends on 30 September 2012.
The one-day races and stage races of the UCI Africa Tour are divided into three categories (HC, 1 and 2). For every race points are awarded for a score. At this rating participate the Professional Continental teams and Continental teams. At the individual race ProTeam also can participate, the placements made by the ProTeam riders remain but for the ranking disregarded.
The UCI announced on 26 January 2012 that the three African Continental teams Groupement Sportif Pétrolier Algérie, MTN and Bonitas team Qhubeka due to their placement in a fictional ranking to start the season starts right to all races of the first and second UCI category.
