50th Berlin International Film Festival
The 50th International Film Festival took place between February 20, 2000 February 9.
The anniversary Berlinale has been heavily influenced by the move to the Potsdamer Platz. The Theater am Potsdamer Platz, where the remainder of musicals are played, was renamed for the time of the Berlinale in " Berlinale Palast " and venue for all premieres of the competition. As a new game places the " Cinemax " and the " Cine Star " were added in the "Sony Center". The old cinema premiere of the competition " Zoo Palast " was the venue for the Premieres of the Children's Film Festival and "Panorama Special".

International Jury
President of the international jury this year was the Chinese actress Gong Li Under her leadership, members of the jury selected the winners from: Lissy Bellaiche (Denmark ), Peter W. Jansen ( Germany ), Jean Lefebvre (Canada), Marisa Paredes (Spain ) Jean -Louis Piel (France ), Walter Salles (Brazil ), Maria Schrader ( Germany ), Andrzej Wajda (Poland).
Award winners
- Golden Bear: The Golden Bear this year went to Paul Thomas Anderson for his film Magnolia.
- Silver Bears were awarded in the following categories: Grand Jury Prize: for the Chinese director Zhang Yimou
- Best Director: Milos Forman
- Best Actress: Bibiana Beglau and Nadja Uhl - both in the film The Legend of Rita by Volker Schlöndorff
- Best Actor: Denzel Washington in Hurricane
- Jury Prize: Wim Wenders million dollars for hotel
- Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement: for the ensemble of actors in Paradiso - Seven Days with Seven Women
Panorama section
The Panorama Audience Award this year received the French film Uneasy Rider ( Nationale 7 ) by Jean -Pierre Sinapi. The Prize of the Ecumenical Jury awarded the film Botin de guerra by David Blaustein. Other outstanding productions in the Panorama program were: Salt Water by Conor McPherson, Echo of Frédéric Roullier Gall and the guilt of Krzysztof Krauze.
Honorary Golden Bear
The Honorary Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement was awarded the French actress Jeanne Moreau. She was also honored with a retrospective of her best films.
