Geography

Geographical location

Aichhalten lies to the east of the middle of the Black Forest, the transition to the Baar plateau. The municipality is located above the valleys of Schiltach and Kinzig in 640-720 meters altitude.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north on the town Alpirsbach in the district of Freudenstadt, on the east by Fluorn- Winzeln, in the south on the town Schramberg and to the west by the town of Schiltach and Schenkenzell.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the two districts Aichhalten and Rötenberg. The two districts are spatially identical with the two previously independent municipalities of the same name. The previously separate municipality Rötenberg united with effect from 1 July 1974 Aichhalten the new community Aichhalten. The two districts also form residential areas within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code. In the district Rötenberg a local administrative body is under the name of local government Rötenberg.

District Aichhalten

History

Aichhalten was first documented in 1223. Spiritual and secular dignitaries took turns to the place came to Austria in 1579 and, apart from an interlude Württemberg 1633/34, and 1805 was also Austrian. Parish council

The municipal council of Aichhalten include 17 members, 15 men and two women, at. He was elected in the municipal elections on June 7, 2009. The turnout was 54.9 %, which was 1.7 percentage points lower than in the local elections of 2004.

The Simon Group of Companies has been based since 1963 in Aichhalten. The group is now active in the fields of furniture fittings, electroplating, powder metallurgy, mining engineering and toolmaking.
