Geography

The community Wellendingen is on the "little Heuberg " at the foot of the Swabian Alb between Rottweil, Tuttlingen and Balingen.

Neighboring communities

The community cross to the west of Rottweil, on the northeast by Schomberg in Zollernalbkreis, to the east by Deilingen, on the southeast by Gosheim and on the south by Frittlingen, all three in the district Tuttlingen.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Wellendingen Wellendingen and Wilflingen. The districts are spatially identical with the former municipalities of the same name. The districts are the two residential areas in terms of Baden-Württemberg municipal code residential district Wellendingen and residential district Wilflingen. The district Wellendingen - Wilflingen also forms the locality in terms of Baden-Württemberg municipal code Wilflingen with private Ortschaftsrat and mayor as its chairman.

The hamlet Wellendingen the village Wellendingen, the hamlet of vices, and the courts Katzensteig include ( Wannenhof ), Lower mill and brick cottage. The hamlet Wellendingen - Wilflingen heard the village Wilflingen.

History

1258 Wellendingen was first mentioned. In the 13th century it was the seat of a noble family of the same name, the vassals of the Counts of Hohenberg were. 1441 was the first mention of a church in Wellendingen ( Branch of St. Pelagius parish in Rottweil -Altstadt ). 1540 Wellendingen, which belonged to the Ifflinger of Granegg was devastated in the country Bergische feud. From 1548 to 1608 was Wellendingen now owned by the family of Humpis Waltrams. The corresponding knighted Canton Neckar -Schwarzwald place was 1608 / 09-1805 owned by the Barons von Freyberg. It was thus an incorporated village in the Canton Knights Neckar -Schwarzwald. Coming from Tübingen happened in 1797 Johann Wolfgang Goethe on one of his trips to Switzerland the place. The sovereignty over Wellendingen reaches 1805 Württemberg. From now on Wellendingen was part of the Kingdom of Württemberg, existing since 1806 in the newly established Upper Rottweil. Thaddeus von Freyberg 1824 sold his shaft Dinger goods and building on the community Wellendingen.

Wilflingen

The church today to Wellendingen heard Wilflingen end ( first documented mention in 1095 ) was one of the 15th century the Schencken von Stauffenberg and later as Prussian enclave since 1850 to the government district of Sigmaringen ( Hohenzollern land ) and there to the upper office Hechingen.

On January 1, 1974, the incorporation of the municipality Wilflingen occurred in the community Wellendingen.

Infrastructure

1871, the obligation fire brigade was founded in Wellendingen, 1911, the town was supplied with electric light. Mid-1920s was the construction of the railway Rottweil Balingen with 27.546 km length. The railway ceased operation on 24 September 1971.

Religions

Located in the center of the village detached, very stately St. Ulrich 's Church, originally Gothic style, was enlarged in accordance style between 1863 and 1864 against the east by a transept and a new rectangular choir. Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the lords of Wellendingen was a triangular and standing on the top plate, the upper half showed a " right -looking lion ." Education

By the summer of 2010, there were in Wellendingen a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule, today there is a primary school which is called 2010 Neuwiesschule since the summer.

Secondary schools are mainly attended in Rottweil and Gosheim or Wehingen.

There is also in Wellendingen a municipal kindergarten with branch office in Wilflingen.
