Alaincourt, Haute-Saône

Alain Court is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Alain Court is located at an altitude of 248 m above sea level, 2.5 km north of Vauvillers and about 36 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, in the valley of the Ruisseau de la Prairie south of Coney, at the northern foot of the heights of Vauvillers.

The area of ​​5.83 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the east of the upper Saônetals. The northern part of the municipality is occupied by the alluvial plain of the coney, the sections marked the northern border. Parallel north of the river runs the waterway of the Canal de l' Est. The flood plain is on average 235 m and has a width of about one kilometer.

From the river, the municipality's area extends southward into the valley his side stream Ruisseau de la Prairie. Agricultural land use predominates here. History

In the Middle Ages Alain Court belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Vauvillers. Later, the city was divided between the Free County and the Duchy of Bar With the invasion of the French king in the Franche -Comté came Alain Court in 1674 to France. Today, Alain Court is a member of the comprehensive ten localities municipal association Communauté de communes Saône et Coney.

Attractions

The church of Saint Nicolas was built in the 15th and 16th century in Gothic style. The facade and part of the ship was rebuilt in 1840. The church has a portal Flamboyant and statues from the 15th century. From the 19th century, the Lavoir, which once served as a laundry and watering cattle originated. North of the village is a Calvaire from the 17th century.

Population

With 94 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Alain Court is one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 186 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Alain Court was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
