Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research

The Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research ( Albert Lasker Award for basic medical research ) is awarded by the American Lasker Foundation ( Lasker Foundation ). The prize aims to reward and promotion of medical basic research.

The price is valid together with the Lasker ~ DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award ( Lasker- DeBakey Award for Clinical Medical Research) as the highest medical and scientific honor in the U.S. and unofficial " American Nobel Prize in Medicine ". 65 of the 150 winners (as of 2013) later received also a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, nine Nobel Prize in Chemistry, a (Ernst Ruska ) a Nobel Prize for physics.

Next to the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research, there is the Lasker ~ Koshland Special Achievement Award in Medical Science (formerly Albert Lasker Achievement Award ).
