Aleksei Grishin

Aljaksej Hennadijewitsch Hryschyn ( weißruss.: Аляксей Генадзьевіч Грышын; born June 18, 1979 in Minsk) is a Belarusian freestyle skis, the effect on the discipline Aerials ( jumping) is specialized. He became world champion in 2001, 2010 Olympic gold medalist.

Biography

After two seasons in the European Hryschyn debuted on 16 December 1997 at the freestyle skiing World Cup, where he jumped into Piancavallo to fourth place and at once established in the world rankings. He qualified for the 1998 Winter Olympics, which resulted in an eighth place. The first podium finish followed on 7 March 1998 in Hasliberg. The first two World Cup victories he celebrated in Mount Buller on 11 and 12 September 1999. In the discipline rating of the season 1999/2000 he was beaten by only eight points the Canadian Nicolas Fontaine.

At the 2001 World Championships in Whistler Hryschyn won the gold medal, ahead of his compatriot Dsmitryj Daschtschynski. End of the season was followed by the third World Cup victory. Again he missed winning the discipline rating just barely. Another win was added in the 2001/ 02 season. At the 2002 Winter Olympics Hryschyn won behind the American Eric Bergoust and the Czech Aleš Valenta the bronze medal. In the season 2002/ 03 he remained without a win, but picked up in the 2003 World Cup in Deer Valley the silver medal (the difference from the victorious Russians Dmitry Arkhipov was less than two points ).

In the 2003 /04 season Hryschyn won two World Cup competitions. He failed in the following season 2004/05, though, but he won at the 2005 World Championships in Ruka the bronze medal. At the Olympic Winter Games 2006, he narrowly missed a medal and finished fourth. In the World Cup season 2005/ 06 he scored two podium finishes, 2006/07 he once stood on the podium. On the other hand, he was never better than seventh place in winter 2007/ 08

In December 2008 Hryschyn succeeded after four and a half years again a World Cup victory. However, his achievements were scored in the episode distinctive. Although he scored in the 2009/10 season again a podium finish, but he was not part of the narrow circle of favorites from the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. In Olympic competition in Cypress Mountain, he showed his best performance for a long time and won a little unexpected gold medal. After a nearly three-year break from competition he rose at the beginning of 2013 to the World Cup and scored in the World Cup season 2013/14, two third places.
