All of Me (1984 film)

Solo for two ( All of Me ) is an American comedy film directed by Carl Reiner from the year 1984. The plot is based on the novel " Me Two" by Edwin Davis.

Action

The frustrated lawyer Roger Cobb would like to become a musician. He has a relationship with the daughter of his boss.

The millionaire Edwina Cutwater is terminally ill. She leaves her fortune bequeathed a young woman, Terry Hoskins. Cobb helps in the formulation of the will.

Cutwater instructed the Guru Prahka Lasa to put their soul into the body of Hoskins. By the Guru's fault Cutwater gains control of half the body of Cobb. After some confusion, it is possible to correct the error. In the last scene we see, dance like Cobb and Hoskins together; in the mirror you see Cobb and Cutwater.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times from 1 January 1984, that the film - like " many great screwball comedies " - strict logic applying to absurd situations. The viewer can identify with most motives of the characters. Ebert praised the supporting actor Richard Libertini and Jason Bernard.

The lexicon of international film wrote that the film " peppy ", " grotesque" and was " left out - amusing ". The " many ideas " and the representations were praised.

Awards

Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin were nominated in 1985 for a Golden Globe Award. Steve Martin won the 1984 the New York Film Critics Circle Award and 1985 National Society of Film Critics Award.

Background

The shooting took place at Culver Studios and Beverly Hills. The world premiere of the film took place on 7 September 1984 at the Toronto Film Festival.
