Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt

The University of Klagenfurt (also Alpen-Adria -Universität Klagenfurt, AAU ) is the largest educational and research institution in the Austrian state of Carinthia, with locations in Klagenfurt, Vienna and Graz. She was under construction since 1964 and took the regular course of operation in 1973 in the office of the Provincial Governor Hans Sima.

It is divided into the departments of Cultural Studies, Economics, Engineering Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies (IFF ), and in 2012 was appointed as the University Centre, the teacher education dedicated School of Education ( SoE ). The IFF - Faculty also maintains institutes at the sites of Vienna and Graz; their dean, Verena obliterans, is Austria's Scientist of the Year 2013. History

1964, which still exists today as friends of the University of Carinthian University Association was constituted. Two years afterwards, the project " Business School Klagenfurt ", 1968, " University of Educational Sciences in Klagenfurt " was configured.

In 1970, he was the parliamentary adoption of the federal law establishing the College of Education in Klagenfurt, a year later you already handed the so-called precursor building at the College of Education. In 1972, the first doctorate at the university.

From 1973-1978 we established the scientific diploma, teacher training and doctoral programs. In 1975 changed its name to University of Education, due to the entry into force of the University Organisation Act 1975. Anno 1976, the first meeting of the University College as the supreme body of the university ( according to UOG ) took place. A year later, the first graduation ceremony was performed.

In 1978, the Inter-University Research Institute of Educational Technology, Educational Media, and Engineering Education was established ( it was 1988 again dissolved ), in the following year, the Inter-University Research Institute was for Distance Learning (since 1991: Inter-University Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies - IFF ) was founded. As of 1983, the development and expansion of the fields of study " Applied Business " and "applied computer science ". Ten years later was changed to University of Klagenfurt, the name of the University; simultaneously a Faculty of Arts and Sciences and a faculty of economics and computer science have been established. From 1994 began the implementation of the University Organisation Act 1993, its implementation was conducted on 1 January 1996.

The extension ( south wing ) was taken in the year 2000. Two years later, they started with the implementation of the University Organisation Act 2002 and the development of new structures and the Articles of Association in the founding convention. On 1 January 2004, the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies (IFF ) was founded. It is the successor of the Inter-University Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies of the Universities of Klagenfurt, Vienna, Graz and Innsbruck ( IFF). Thus, the University of Klagenfurt is from this point of three faculties. From 1 October 2004 the official name of the University of Alpen-Adria -Universität Klagenfurt (implemented under the rectorship of Günther Hödl ). The University had in 2006 approximately 7,200 students at around 65 professors and about as many extraordinary professorships. With winter semester 2007/ 08 the number of students for the first time rose above 8,000, exceeding a few years later the 10,000 mark.

Faculty of Technical Sciences ( Tewi )

The Faculty of Technical Sciences is devoted to research and teaching in the fields of computer science, information technology and technical mathematics. The Faculty was founded in January 2007 ( Founding Dean Martin Hitz ) and emerged from the faculty of economics and computer science as well as from a new Department of Information and Communication Technology. The Faculty is headed by Dean Gerhard Friedrich and Vice Dean Clemens Heuberger.
