Alto Río Senguer

Alto Río Senguer is a small town in the south- west of the Argentine province of Chubut in Patagonia. It is the administrative center of the department of Río Senguer. The city today has about 1700 inhabitants and is located on the Ruta Nacional 40

Origin of the name

The word comes from the language Senguer the Patagonian natives tehuelche. It says singer or Sengel what Wade means. There is a natural transition over the Río Senguer At the site of the city.

History

Alto Río Senguer was established on 1 April 1943. After the first family, who built there in 1915, a house name, the place was first called Paso Schultz.

Economy and Tourism

The town's economy is dominated by time immemorial by the livestock. The sheep farming plays a greater role than the breeding of cattle. The surrounding area of the city is divided into a series of large-scale agricultural goods. The city also has an airport ( IATA code: ARR ).

In the region there are camping and trekking, horse riding, ornithological excursions, hunting red deer and wild boar and fishing.
