Ambérieu-en-Bugey

Ambérieu -en- Bugey is a commune with 13,839 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Ain ​​, in the Rhône -Alpes. It is capital of the canton Ambérieu -en- Bugey.

Geography

Ambérieu -en- Bugey is located in Bugey between Lyon and Geneva, at the entrance of Albarine in the broad Ain River Valley.

The municipality has a station on the railway line Lyon- Genève, which is served by TER Rhône -Alpes trains. To the northwest lies the homonymous small military airfield.

Structures

In the hamlet Les Allymes stands the castle Les Allymes, which stands as a monument historique since 1960 under monument protection.
