Anzoátegui

Anzoategui is one of the 23 states of Venezuela, located in the northeast of the country.

The capital city is Barcelona. It is known that State for its beaches, which attract many visitors. The coast acts as a single beach of 100 km in length.

History

Named after the great hero of the Venezuelan War of Independence, José Antonio Anzoategui, this state has its own story.

The capital Anzoategui was founded in 1677. The state was at that time part of the province of Cumana. 1810, Anzoategui separated from that province. But not until 1909 did the present political division.

Geography

Anzoategui is located in the northeast of the coast of Venezuela from the Caribbean Sea. The neighboring countries are Monagas and Sucre in the east, in the south of Bolívar and Guárico in the West.

Economy

The economy is characterized by Anzoategui Venezuela's main resource: oil. One of the largest oil refining complex in Latin America, the Complejo Petroquímico General de División José Antonio Anzoategui, has its headquarters in the state. Other major industries are fishing and tourism.
