Apostrophe (')

Apostrophe (') is an album by Frank Zappa, which was released on April 22, 1974, both in stereo and in quadraphonic. An edited version of the introductory piece, " Do not Eat the Yellow Snow ", was Zappa's first commercial single- success, which brought it up to # 86 in the singles charts. The album reached # 10 on the Billboard charts and received on 7 March 1976, a gold record.

In continuation of the commercial success of Over- Nite Sensation ( 1973), the album had a similar mix of short songs that bore witness to Zappa's humor and musical arrangements. The lyrics are often bizarre or confused, with the exception of " Uncle Remus," a continuation of Zappa's feelings about racial disharmony, which was already shown in his earlier piece " Trouble Every Day".

Music

Loose The first part of the album follows a continued topic. " Do not Eat the Yellow Snow " tells the dream of the singer, in which he sees himself as an Eskimo named Nanook. A trapper begins with the killing of a baby seal, and Nanook responds by saying, rubs this " yellow snow ", ie snow, have previously urinated on the Huskies in the eyes, which he is blinded. The trapper remembers an old Eskimo legend and travels to the parish of St. Alfonzo. At this point the album takes an unexpected turn and tells a wild story in which caress goblins and meat pies are abused, with a short musical interlude and raised orgasmic screams. With " Cosmik Debris " the album refers to earlier albums like The Grand Wazoo and songs like Camarillo Brillo.

The title track is a jam session with Cream bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Jim Gordon.
