Arboldswil

Arboldswil (Basel German: Arbetschwyl ) is a municipality in the district of Waldenburg in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Arboldswil situated on 628 m asl on the plateau between Waldburger and Reigoldswilertal in the southeast of Canton. Its neighboring municipalities are Ziefen, Reigoldswil, Titterten, Lower Village and Bubendorf.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the municipality Arboldswil shows on a blue background a silver embattled walls, standing on a green three mountain. In the golden sun shines. The flag colors are blue and white. The new coat of arms was proposed by the sub-committee for municipal coat of arms and approved by the community meeting on 14 April 1944. Three mountain and battlements have the Kastelenflue, the True Drawing village. The symbol of the radiant sun, the scenic sunny location of the village comes into its own. Finally, to emphasize the colors of the coat of arms belonging to the old Waldburger office.

History

Finds from the Neolithic Age to the Roman period and attest Arboldswil as old culture ground. For the first time the village was first mentioned in 1226 and belonged to the Counts of 1366 Frohnburg. Then it came with Waldenburg to the Bishop of Basel and in 1400 to the city of Basel.

Attractions

As sight are not building in the foreground, but the views towards the Black Forest, which is worth mentioning from almost any location in Arboldswil. A special point is the Chastelenflue, which served as a fire alarm in ancient times and is considered the highest point in the municipality spell to mention.
