Arnold Olsen

Arnold Olsen ( born December 17, 1916 in Butte, Montana, † October 11, 1990 in Helena, Montana ) was an American politician. Between 1961 and 1971 he represented the state of Montana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Arnold Olsen attended the public schools in Butte and 1934-1936, the Montana School of Mines. Subsequently, he studied until 1940 at the Law Faculty of the Montana State University law. During the Second World War Olsen served from 1942 to 1946 in the U.S. Navy. He then worked as a lawyer.

Arnold Olsen was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1948 and 1956 he was Attorney General of Montana. Between January 1961 and January 3, 1971 3, he was the successor of the Senate exchanged Lee Metcalf for five legislative sessions deputy in the U.S. Congress. In 1970 he was defeated in the congressional election against Richard G. Shoup, the candidate of the Republican Party.

In the years 1972 and 1974, respectively Olsen competed unsuccessfully for a return to Congress. After that he became a judge in the Second District of Montana Law. This office he held between 1975 and 1990.
