Denny Rehberg

Dennis " Denny " Rehberg ( born October 5, 1955 in Billings, Montana) is an American politician. From 2001 to 2013 he represented the state of Montana in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the elections to the U.S. Senate in 2012, he was defeated by incumbent Jon Tester.

Early years and political rise

Denny Rehberg attended West High School in Billings, then up to 1977, the Washington State University. After his studies, he became a successful rancher. On his Rehberg Ranch near Billings he breeds cattle and cashmere goats. Rehberg is a member of the Republican Party. Between 1977 and 1979 he worked in the administration of the Senate of Montana; between 1979 and 1982 he was a staff member of Congressman Ron Marlenee.

Political career

In the years 1984-1991 Rehberg sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Montana. There he sat down for a fiscal consolidation without tax increases. Subsequently, he was appointed as successor to the retiring Allen Kolstad for Lieutenant Governor of Montana. He was between 1991 and 1996 Deputy Governors Stan Stephens and Marc Racicot. During this time he traveled annually all 56 districts of the State and was chairman of several committees. In 1996, Rehberg applied unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate; he lost while the Democratic incumbent Max Baucus.

In the congressional elections of 2000, Denny Rehberg was elected as the successor to Rick Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives. He sat down with 51.5 percent of the vote against Democrat Nancy Keenan by. Rehberg joined his new mandate on 3 January 2001. After several re- elections ( most recently in 2010 with 60.3 percent of the vote ), he held it out to 3 January 2013. In the 2012 election he no longer went to for its mandate, but applied for the post of U.S. Senator of his state. He was defeated by Democratic incumbent Jon Tester in the Senate elections, 2012. Rehberg is considering a bid again for the U.S. Senate in 2014, since then the election standing Senate seat is an open seat with no incumbent by the announced withdrawal of the previous incumbent Max Baucus.

Denny Rehberg is married with Jan Rehberg, with whom he has three children.
