Árpád Mihály

Árpád Mihály (Hungarian Mihály Árpád; born 27 June 1980 Miercurea Ciuc ) is a Romanian- Hungarian hockey player, hockey league is since 2009 in Alba Volán Székesfehérvár at Erste Bank under contract.

Career

Mihály Árpád, who was born a member of the Hungarian minority in Romania Miercurea Ciuc Székely, began his career as a hockey player with the Sioux City Musketeers, for which he was active in the Junior League United States Hockey League in the season 1999/2000. Then the attacker spent a total of seven years in various North American professional minor league franchises. In the United Hockey League, he played for the New Haven Knights and Mohawk Valley Prowlers, in the East Coast Hockey League for the Wheeling Nailers and Reading Royals and Las Vegas Wranglers, as well as in the American Hockey League for the Philadelphia Phantoms, Binghamton Senators, Wilkes -Barre/Scranton Penguins and Milwaukee Admirals.

For the 2007 /08 season Mihály returned to Europe, where he received a contract with HC Bolzano. With the South Tyrolean he immediately won the Italian league title, but then moved to his hometown for HC Csíkszereda. With the team he won in the 2008 / 09 season, the championship of the newly founded MOL League and was even voted the best striker in the league. Since the team had to be disbanded at season's end for financial reasons, to Mihály Alba Volán Székesfehérvár joined from Hungary, for which he has since then played in the Erste Bank Hockey League. In parallel, he ran for Alba Volánbusz in 2010 and 2011 in the playoffs of the Hungarian Hockey League and won with his team in 2010 the Hungarian Champion title.

Internationally

As a teenager, Mihály start yet for Romania. For Hungary, Mihály took part in the World Championships for Division IA in 2012 and 2013. At the tournament in 2013 he was elected to the All- Star team. He also competed for the Magyars in an Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi in 2014, when his team surprisingly failed in the first qualifying round in the domestic Budapest by a 6:7 after penalty shoot-out to the Dutch.
