Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union

The Asia - Pacific Broadcasting Union ( ABU ) is a consortium of various broadcasters in 57 countries and regions in the Asia - Pacific region, where more than 3 billion people live. The ABU has the task of helping the development of broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region and to promote the collective interests of its members. The catchment area of ​​the ABU extends from Turkey in the west to Samoa in the east and from Russia in the north to New Zealand in the south. The ABU has its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

One of ABU activities is the Asiavision, daily news exchange, which is shown via satellite in 20 countries in Asia. In addition, the ABU also coordinates the transfer of large sporting events and performs a wide range of other activities. In addition, it will support the collective interests of television and radio transmitters and promote regional and international cooperation between the transmitters.

Full members must be national free-to- air broadcasters in the Asia -Pacific region. However, there is also an associate membership category, which is open to provincial stations, pay-TV and national broadcasters in other parts of the world.

ABU Radio Song Festival

The ABU Radio Song Festival is a competition for musicians who are in any record companies under contract. The ABU recommends its members, presenting the participating musicians and their songs on the radio.

Each participant was selected by a broadcaster. A jury composed of representatives of ABU members, elected from 26 entries from 15 finalists. The finalists came into effect on October 11, 2012 during the General Assembly of ABU in the KBS Hall in Seoul. There again, a jury from the best performers. The festival lasted two hours. The South Korean broadcasting company Korean Broadcasting System organized the festival along with the ABU.

Winner

The South Korean duo Bily Acoustie won the ABU Radio Song Festival in 2012. Moreover, the Australian Danielle Blakey with the gold price, Bruneierin Maria Aires with the silver price and the Australian Sammy Ray Jones was awarded the bronze prize. The Malaysian trio K-Town Clan won a special award for her song Party Animal.

ABU TV Song Festival

The ABU TV Song Festival is a concert event for professional musicians who have according to organizers of a high profile in their home country. The event will have no competitive character. The festival was recorded and is to be transferred by the participating ABU members first. ABU members who do not participate, and broadcasters who are not members of the ABU should, the festival may radiate a fee later.

Each musician was from a broadcaster who is a member of the ABU, chosen. The musicians performed on 14 October 2012 during the General Assembly of ABU in the KBS Hall in Seoul. The festival lasted two hours and was hosted by the South Korean Han Suk Joon and the Australian Jamaica dela Cruz. The South Korean broadcasting company Korean Broadcasting System organized the festival along with the ABU.
