Marathon

Spyridon Belokas who crossed the in third place after 3:06:30 hours, was disqualified after a protest by Gyula waiter because he was mitgefahren for a section in a carriage.

The first winner of an Olympic discipline at all is the American James Connolly won the triple jump with 13.71 meters. He was awarded a silver medal (1896 was the winner no gold medal yet). The American Springer came after a sixteen -day trip from the United States to a day before the competitions in Athens. The Harvard University had their students Connolly not given permission to travel to Athens. Therefore he exmatrikulierte themselves to travel to Greece can. 1949, at the age of 83 years, but gave him his university honorary doctorate.
