Marathon

The first winner of an Olympic discipline at all is the American James Connolly won the triple jump with 13.71 meters. He was awarded a silver medal (1896 was the winner no gold medal yet). The American Springer came after a sixteen -day trip from the United States to a day before the competitions in Athens. The Harvard University had their students Connolly not given permission to travel to Athens.
