Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg

Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg (Russian Автомобилист Екатеринбург ) is a Russian ice hockey club was established in 2006 in Yekaterinburg. The team, which is regarded as the unofficial sequel to the 2007 resolution clubs Dynamo-Energy Yekaterinburg, plays its home matches at the 5,500 -seat Palace of Sports, Yekaterinburg. Since 2009, the team plays in the Kontinental Hockey League.

History

Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg took for the season 2006 /07, the operation of gambling in the Wysschaja league. Already in the 2007/ 08 season was the team that was the only representative from Ekaterinburg to the resolution of Dynamo-Energy, one of the top teams in the league and was - in addition to Barys Astana - the two teams in from the Wysschaja League the Continental Hockey League newly founded were taken. Due to financial problems, however, the club had to give in July 2008 to participate, after which he was replaced by Chimik Woskressensk, where one had been defeated in playoff final of the 2007/08 season. Therefore Awtomobilist remained in the Wysschaja league. There, the team reached the main round in first place of the Eastern group, but failed already in the playoff quarterfinals at Krylia Sovetov Moscow MIC. However, it was established a new funding for the KHL in the course of the season.

Since Woskressensk itself ran into financial difficulties and was expelled from the League, took Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg season 2009/10 the free space in the KHL again.
