Ban Sang District

Amphoe Ban Sang ( Thai: อำเภอ บ้าน สร้าง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the west of the province of Prachinburi. The Prachinburi province is located in the eastern region of central Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Bang San is by following Amphoe limited ( seen from the north clockwise from ) the Amphoe Ongkharak, Mueang Nakhon Nayok and Pak Phli in the province of Nakhon Nayok, Amphoe Mueang Prachinburi and the Si Mahosot in the province of Prachinburi and Ratchasan Amphoe Bang Khla, Khlong Khuean and Bang Nam Priao in the province of Chachoengsao.

An important river in the district is Maenam Prachinburi ( Prachinburi River ).

History

In the past, the area now the district of Ban Sang was a dense jungle, lived in the wild elephants. Lao from Vientiane settled here and called their settlement Ban Chang (literally elephant village). Later the name was changed to Ban Sang.

The district of Ban Sang was established in 1905.

Management

Amphoe Ban Sang is divided ( tambon) in nine communities, which continue in 93 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Ban Sang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้าน สร้าง ) is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it covers parts of the tambon Ban Sang and Bang Krabao.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
