Baragiano

Baragiano is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) 2664 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Potenza, in the Basilicata. The municipality is situated approximately 18 kilometers west-north- west of Potenza. Baragiano is part of the Comunità Montana Marmo Platano. On the southwest boundary of the municipality of Avigliano flows into the Picerno.

History

The church is known for the archaeological site Archeoparco del Basileus. A dig site located at a place where the people of the Lucanians met on the Peucetians.

Finally, the community was devastated in November 1980 in the seismically very active region by an earthquake.
