Brienza

Brienza is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4084 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Potenza, in the Basilicata. The community is located approximately 22.5 kilometers southwest of Potenza on pergola and directly borders the province of Salerno. Brienza is part of the Comunità montana Melandro.

History

The village Brienza is a Lombard founded in the 7th century. They probably arose after the foundation of a Benedictine abbey. In order to change the 7th to the 8th century church of St. Martin was born.
